Nicole Marafioti (Ph.D. 2009) has won the 2011 Guilford Prize for her dissertation "The Politics of Royal Burial in Late Anglo-Saxon England." The Guilford Prize is given by the English Department to Cornell doctoral students in any field whose theses are judged to display the highest excellence in English prose. It also includes a monetary prize.
Two seniors graduated this year (May 2011) with minors in Medieval Studies: Brittany Rosen majored in Chemistry, and Katherine Wilhelmy majored in Biological Sciences.
